The Shlomo Carlebach Foundation supports and provides assistance to a variety of cultural and educational programs to perpetuate and share the teachings, stories and music of Reb Shlomo, including gatherings, concerts, and a memorial ceremony at the time of Reb Shlomo’s yahrzeit.

The 26th Yahrtzeit for Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach this year is on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020, (16 Cheshvan, 5781).

This year, due to COVID19 restrictions, only online concerts and online program at the Kever will be held. The main annual Yahrzeit night concert in Israel is on Monday, Nov. 2: 8:30 pm Israel time; 1:30 pm EST

Yonatan Razel, Aharon Razel, Yitzhak Meir, Chezki Sofer, Bini Landau, Dvir Spiegel, Yisrael Nachman, Naftali Kampa, HaShlilitzim and musical orchestra “Lehava”.

YAHRZEIT EVENTS FOR 2017

Motzei Shabbat, 16th of Cheshvan, November 4, 2017, is the 23^rd Yartzeit of Reb Shlomo Carlebach. Is there another person or Rabbi whose contribution to Jewish life is celebrated by concerts? There’s music at his gravesite, kumzits, and other gatherings of his followers, who resonate with his music, his message of Ahavat Yisrael, love of Shabbat, and Jerusalem.

Many people may say they are Jewish because of Reb Shlomo. He opened the gates for many to uplifting and meaningful Jewish prayer, and hence the widespread use of his music in shuls and elsewhere.

Reb Shlomo Carlebach ztz”l referred to this month as Ram Cheshvan – “Elevated Cheshvan” as per the B’nei Yissaschar’s teaching. What’s so elevated about Cheshvan? It’s still a month without holidays. The idea is that with the insight, the inspiration, the teshuva, the spirituality, and so much more that we worked on and cultivated in Tishrei, we’re now in a stronger and more elevated place where we can generate the connection and holiness from down here.

No wonder Reb Shlomo’s yahrtzeit is in the month of Cheshvan. He makes sure to remind us every year of the renewed ability we have to elevate ourselves and connect to Hashem and each other, and cause blessings to rain down on us.
